Crown Lengthening
Patients who come in desiring to lengthen their teeth because they appear short, find that their teeth are actually the proper length, but are covered with too much gum tissue. To correct this, we perform crown lengthening. During this procedure, excess gum and bone tissue is reshaped to expose more of the natural tooth. This can be done to one tooth to even the gum line, or to several teeth to expose a natural, broad smile.

Sometimes crown lengthening is recommended to make restorative or cosmetic dental procedures possible. This may be the case if the patient's tooth is decayed, broken below the gum line, or has insufficient tooth structure for restoration, such as for a crown or a bridge. Crown lengthening adjusts the gum and bone levels to expose more of the tooth so it can be restored by your dentist.
